The Legislative branch is the largest of the branches, with Delegates for the City Council and Board of Education introducing original legislation that they have researched and drafted themselves. These are bills that reflect the personal beliefs of the students and changes they want to see made on the district level. In the City Council, the City Council Chair chairs the general session and committee chairs oversee the committee activity at the beginning of Legislative Weekend. In the Board of Education, the Superintendent chairs the general session and sets the docket of discussion. All students follow Robert’s Rules for Parliamentary Procedure to encourage debate and ensure a fair discussion is held on every piece of legislation.

Once a piece of legislation is passed by the City Council and the Board of Education, the bill is passed along to the Mayor for their pass or veto.
