Lindsey Pullum, PhD
Program Director
Lindsey Pullum earned her Master’s degree in Middle Eastern Languages & Cultures (2014) and her Doctorate in Anthropology (2020) from Indiana University. Lindsey was a participant in North Carolina Youth & Government (Y&G) from 2006-2008, serving in the Legislative branch. During undergrad, Lindsey applied what she learned in Y&G at NC State University, where she served the university Student Government as the Chair of Elections. She also volunteered as a member of College Staff for NC Y&G from 2008-2012. In addition to working with the Y&G students, and giving back to a program that has been life-changing to herself and so many others, Lindsey enjoys running and playing guitar.

John DeGout
Sr. VP of Leadership Development
John DeGout, originally from to St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Howard University and a Certificate in Non-Profit Executive Management from Georgetown University’s MBA Program. John was foundational to bringing Youth & Government to DC and was awarded the Service to Youth Award in 2004 for his unending support of the program since the beginning. He has served the Y Metropolitan Washington in a number of ways: from membership to Branch Executive Director to his current role as Sr. VP of Leadership Development. He reports to the Senior Vice President of Human Resources, serves as branch support leader for IT member management, and is responsible for all Association Training and Staff Development, Trainer Development, University Collaborations for Training, YMCA DC Youth & Government, Mentoring program, and works with YMCA of the USA and network YMCAs to help develop staff in the Y movement.
